FCL Import Operator - Freight Forwarding



Basildon, Essex



Full time, Permanent position

Monday to Friday's 8:30am to 5:30pm

Salary: �24,000 to �28,000 per annum depending on experience
Our client is looking for a confident Operator with excellent attention to detail and accuracy - you will have the best opportunity to develop your knowledge within logistics and freight forwarding, become a part of a fully involved, friendly team and be given constant support & guidance and work within our Client's FCL department.





Our Client can provide a nice newly purchased and renovated office environment, with a nice break out area. This encompasses a modern kitchen, self-serve coffee machines, microwave, fridge/freezer. Use of TV, Pool table, ping pong table plus an arcade machine. Also, use of showers and soon to come a gym!!!



Role:



It will involve getting to know and communicate with Customers overseas, various contacts within the company from Sales to Accounts etc., develop on your knowledge within sea freight and being the intermediary between the company who makes the shipment and the final destination for the goods.





Main duties & responsibilities:




  • To assist in all aspects in looking after FCL full load container movements ex China, US etc to the UK.

  • Liaising with Westbound China offices.

  • Liaising with all local Uk suppliers:

  • Liaising with Customs Dept to arrange customs clearances.

  • Liaising with our own and other 3rd party warehouses when requires.

  • Liaising with local transport companies to organise final end deliveries.

  • Import customs entry experience ideal or some knowledge would be helpful.

  • Bill of Lading Experience.

  • Liaising with internal accounts depts ensuring payments and client accounts are up to date prior to releasing cargo.

Person Specification:




  • Minimum of 1 years experience working within Imports recently.

  • Experience on the phones speaking with customers/clients daily.

  • A pro-active attitude.

  • Excellent telephone manner.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Able to work and meet deadlines.

  • Able to implement and manage systems which further enhance the company profile overall

  • Possess team player qualities.

  • Able to plan ahead.

  • Computer literate - Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.

  • Experience using systems would be desirable such as: FCL, Destin8, CNS, GoogleDocs.
