About the role: As the Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA), you will be responsible for developing and delivering confidential high-quality outreach and advocacy services and support services to victims/survivors experiencing domestic violence and abuse at the highest risk levels living in the community. You will also work within a multi-agency framework which includes MARAC and local partnership responses to DA.
Within this role you will work as part of a fantastic team, participating in the running of the project to ensure effective and efficient and confidential service delivery to Panahghar users.
You will ensure that any issues in relation to the safeguarding of children or vulnerable adults are responded to in line with Panahghar policies and procedures, including completing Child Protection, and MARAC referrals.
This is not your normal 9am to 5pm job, as you will be managing a high number of caseloads, we will require someone who is flexible and who understands the nature of this role. Thus, you will be working out of hours or at nights due to the nature of the role.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience working with BME communities experiencing domestic violence and experiencing of working with Black and Ethnic Minority Communities.
You will recognise, respect and address the needs of those who face particular barriers when seeking help to access the service, including those from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, LGBT communities, disabled people, those with complex needs, and other hard to reach groups.
You will also need to have experience of having worked within a social care / welfare setting, and within safeguarding guidelines to protect and promote the well-being of children and vulnerable adults.
Qualified as an IDVA or ISVA, along with other relevant qualification or equivalent experience in work with vulnerable people especially women and children, you will have an in-depth knowledge of relevant legislations such as Childrens Act, Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Domestic Violence Crime and Victims Act, Forced Marriages (Civil Protection) Act 2007, and the new Domestic Abuse Bill.
An adaptable and flexible individual who thrives working under pressure, you will have excellent communication skills, fluent in English but also fluent with at least one main BME language.
You will have the ability to organise and prioritise workload and be able to work as part of a team and to use own initiative. You will need to be able to drive with a current driving license and access to a vehicle and business insurance.
You will need a clear DBS.
