Champion for Children's Voices: Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) Team, Middlesbrough Council
Middlesbrough Council's Children's Services is seeking an exceptional Children's Social Worker to join our dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) Team. This is an opportunity to work directly with children in care, ensuring their individual needs and wishes are at the heart of their care journey.
Your Role:
As an IRO Team member, you will be a champion for children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Reviews: Conducting independent reviews of children in care, ensuring their care plans meet their individual needs and wishes, and that their progress is monitored effectively.
- Advocating for Children: Acting as a strong advocate for children in care, ensuring their views and opinions are heard and considered in all decisions affecting their lives.
- Working with Children and Families: Building trusting relationships with children in care and their families, providing support and guidance throughout the care journey.
- Liaising with Professionals: Collaborating with a wide range of professionals involved in a child's care, including social workers, foster carers, education staff, and health professionals, to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach.
- Ensuring Compliance: Upholding legal frameworks and best practice guidelines regarding children in care, ensuring that all aspects of their care are compliant with regulations and policies.
- Contributing to Team Work: Working effectively as part of a team, sharing information, and supporting colleagues.
- Developing Expertise: Continuously developing knowledge and skills related to independent reviewing and children in care, staying up-to-date on relevant legislation and best practices.
Key Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
- Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
- Experience working with children in care: Demonstrated expertise and understanding of the needs and rights of children in care.
