IT Field Support Engineer – Cardiff and Southwest – £5,500-£7,000 yearly car allowanceWe’re working with a market leading, billion-pound operation of a company, who are looking for an IT Field Engineer with 5+ years’ experience. This role will be based in Cardiff, with regular visits around the Southwest region.Reporting To IT Regional ManagerRole OverviewReporting to the IT Regional Manager you will be responsible for maintaining the computer systems and networks of the business. This will include installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults, and solving technical and application problems, either over the phone or in person to ensure users get maximum benefit.You will also need to proactivity engage with the business to help identify areas of improvements through both our infrastructure and process improvement projects.Key ResponsibilitiesRegularly visit sites to engage with users face to face and proactivity evaluate any potential site improvements.Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications.Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks including switches, routers, server’s, printers, other IT hardware and network patching.Application support and software installationInstallation of Wi-Fi AP’sTalking users through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues.Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.Replace faulty equipment as required.Respond within agreed time limits to call-outs.Work continuously on assigned tasks/helpdesk tickets to completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)Support the roll-out of new applications.Support the roll-out of new sites either through acquisitions or organic growth.Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company polices, processes and practicesWork closely with all members of the IT team across the group when required.Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by management.Essential Skills RequiredIn depth knowledge and experience of Desktops, LaptopsExperience of Windows 10 and Windows 11Office365 management and maintenanceApplication support and software installs.Knowledge of servers, Networks LAN/WAN, including cloud hosted solutionsKnowledge of tablet/mobile phone support with both IOS and Android softwareKnowledge of MDT (Microsoft Deployment Tools) for building laptops and desktopsKnowledge of firewalls, proxies, and antivirus softwareAbility to prioritise workload, be flexible in approach to problems and use own initiative to achieve results.Excellent communications skillsProfessionalism and confidence always.Desirable SkillsKnowledge, experience, or qualification of the ITIL V4 Foundation practices, processes, and frameworkKnowledge of Sophos Antivirus software, Mimecast, PDQ, Logitech, and PowerShellKnowledge or experience of the Excalibur software programKnowledge of ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus ticket logging system.Specific Features of this positionMust have the flexibility to work in a dynamic company with a wide product range and approach their work with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.Must be able to manage their own schedule workload.Must be prepared to visit any sites across the group for short periods at short notice which may include overnight stays.Full driving license.
