MS494 - Installations Engineer (IT /AV)
Location: Northampton
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Installations Engineer on behalf of one of our clients. The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for focusing on the physical setup of hardware and the initial install of software systems at Client sites.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and test hardware systems, including networking devices, PCs, mobile devices, AV, and telephony equipment.
- Work closely with the engineers to understand project requirements and technical specifications.
- Ensure all installations, meeting high standards for performance and reliability.
- Conduct on-site inspections and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the installation phase.
- Provide detailed feedback and documentation to the Head of Engineering to support the 3rd line escalation process.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service when interacting with clients on site.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated with the latest technologies and installation techniques.
- Manage and log all on-site work accurately in the project management system to ensure traceability and accountability.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A HND or equivalent experience in a relevant subject (Computer Science, Information Technology, etc) is preferred.
- Relevant industry certifications with proven implementation would be ideal.
- Full valid UK driving licence.
- Technical Installation: Proven experience in the installation and configuration of IT and telecommunications equipment, including but not limited to networking devices, PCs, mobile devices, and telephony equipment.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, such as IP networking, firewalls, and wireless technologies. Familiarity with different operating systems including Windows and MacOS is preferred.
- Field Experience: Experience working in the field, managing onsite installations, and dealing directly with client issues during the setup phase.
- Documentation and Reporting: Experience in providing detailed installation feedback, creating documentation, and maintaining project logs for effective communication and follow-up.
