It has approximately 250 employees and its head office is situated in WeWork’s flagship European office on London’s South Bank.About the Legal Counsel role…The role provides a great opportunity for a mid-level lawyer to gain broad legal experience and make a significant impact within a fast-paced and collaborative media business. You’ll form part of a small in-house legal team, reporting directly to the General Counsel. The role is a hybrid one, involving two days a week in the office and three days working from home.The role will involve the following kinds of activities:You’ll provide focused and commercial advice on a wide range of legal matters.You’ll review, draft and manage commercial contract negotiations with Centaur’s clients and customers, suppliers and other third parties.You’ll work with the Legal Team to develop and roll out new template agreements, policies and procedures and to facilitate ongoing compliance with these.You’ll deliver training and develop know-how relating to Centaur’s internal contract management processes, protection of IP and data protection compliance, among other areas.You’ll support the business in understanding and complying with its legal and regulatory requirements, including in relation to anti-bribery and corruption, data protection and climate change.You’ll support the Legal Team on any acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures or outsourcing transactions.You’ll advise on intellectual property matters and help to maintain Centaur’s trademark portfolio, supported by external advisors.You’ll help to manage instructions to external counsel and other legal services providers.Experience you’ll need…You’ll be a Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with at least 4 years PQE.You’ll have a strong academic education and qualifications.You’ll ideally have completed your training and post-qualification experience at a leading law firm.You’ll have commercial law expertise and, ideally, expertise in some of the following areas: corporate, data protection, intellectual property, technology and/or employment law.You’ll ideally have previous in-house experience, either from a secondment or another in-house role.You’ll have a genuine interest in working in the media sector.Behaviours and attributes you’ll have…Strong interpersonal and communication skillsPositive and enthusiastic attitude to workVersatility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstancesHigh levels of accuracy and attention to detailStrong analytical skillsExcellent organisational and administrative skillsAbility to manage a high volume of varied matters and to prioritise appropriatelySelf-starter with high levels of initiative and the ability to work independentlyAbility to work effectively under pressureAbility to develop strong relationships at all levels across business and to influence others to achieve positive outcomesCommercially minded and solution-oriented, with the ability to be pragmatic where necessaryWhat we can offer you...25 days holiday, increasing by one day p.a. to a maximum of 30 days for every year servedMedicash health planStunning Waterloo offices with views of the Thames plus complimentary barista coffee / free bar / table tennis tables – the worksComplimentary access to accredited training programmes worth thousands of pounds including our Mini MBAActive Diversity and Inclusivity agenda (DICE – Diversity Inclusion, Culture, Engagement)Annual Wellness DayShare Incentive PlanGive as you Earn Scheme
