The post holder will be part of a team that is responsible for all aspects of IT technical support to the organisation, ensuring the organisation has the tools, platforms and hardware to do their jobs. This involves troubleshooting, providing advice and developing guidance (including the ongoing support of IT infrastructure and security) and ensuring compliance with all corporate requirements and policies.

They investigate complaints and resolve disputes involving the tenants and leaseholders of social landlords (housing associations and local authorities), as well as for our voluntary members (private landlords and letting agents).

They are a free, independent, and impartial service and their work is funded by annual landlord subscription fees.

Description

The IT Senior Officer provides proactive advice including IT risk management, with a subject matter expert focus on, data and cyber security, and supports the IT Manager and Data Protection Officer as required. This role will also lead on the SharePoint information asset (Hoogle), ensuring this environment is secure, fit-for-purpose, and maintained appropriately.

Responsibilities:

  • Subject matter expert (SME) in the security of key business systems, including but not limited to, our case management system (CMS) Workpro, Finance system (Oracle), and HR system (People HR)
  • Ensures that all systems are appropriately licensed, accessed, maintained and developed, working with system expert users across the organisation to help drive efficiency
  • Contribute to a strong disaster recovery / business continuity plan with appropriate redundancy and backup systems
  • Contribute to the ongoing cyber security development and maintenance at the Housing ombudsman, supporting the Data Protection officer from a technical standpoint during DPIAs and data breaches.
  • Keep up to date in all technical areas relevant to the job to ensure that IT best practice is followed with in Housing ombudsman and the IT Team, in line with the Housing ombudsman operating practices/policies including central government Functional Standards.
  • Ensure that the HOS IT environment meets security thresholds and gains required certification for cyber-security and data compliance.
  • Identify , investigate, and recommend new and updated cloud, hardware, and software options with a view to improved service delivery and cost effectiveness.
  • Work closely with Project Management colleagues and suppliers on IT / Security developments to ensure appropriate implementation of projects that are in compliance with the HOS IT environment, as a technical adviser.
  • Ensure HOS's information (records management) is properly maintained in our SharePoint environment, and sites developed appropriates, in line with Data Protection/Information Governance policies.
  • Troubleshoot escalated IT support desk issues, working with the DPO or IT partner Service Desk as necessary, acting promptly to reassess workloads and priorities when there are conflicting demands to maintain IT performance, and mentoring and supporting junior members of the team to provide excellent customer service support.

Profile

  • Should be educated to level 3 in an IT / Security related field or equivalent qualifications
  • IT Security Certification - (CompTIA Sec+)
  • ITIL v4
  • 365 Enterprise expert
  • Significant successful experience of working in IT systems support
  • Proven experience in handling complex IT incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and CIS
  • Understanding of compliance requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
  • Proven experience leading IT projects and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Expertise in Azure infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Intune, high-level troubleshooting
  • Experience in conducting security risk assessments on software or services
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced level SharePoint skills and evidence of operational application
  • Sound information management experience and data protection understanding
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills - provide tailored, concise and understandable explanations of problems to the end user
  • Proven ability to take a holistic view of issues/incidents, make informed decisions, solve complex problems, anticipate potential issues on services, and action appropriate mitigations that will reduce the impact.

Job Offer

The role has only VERY occasional travel to site, which is paid for including accommodation (London and Manchester).
We COULD consider candidates who want / need flexibility in work patterns and are open to considering a condensed working week.
