IT Support Specialist This is a combined and varied role utilising IT support, DevOps, and System Administration skills, suited to a candidate who enjoys variety in their role and being a fundamental part of the successful operation of an engineering team and wider business. You will be involved in many technical areas of the business, providing IT support to remote and in-office staff and helping to acquire new hardware. You will be working closely with our Legal and Compliance team on ISO 27001 compliance and data information security. The role will involve working directly with the Head of IT and DevOps team to build and maintain secure, robust, and value-for-money server architecture. You will help manage existing SaaS solutions and help identify new software to improve security and staff efficiencies. From an engineering perspective you will be involved in the maintenance of our comparison platforms, working with a range of teams within Seopa on our evolving range of robust and industry-leading systems. Depending on your own aspirations the role can be tailored to allow you to learn or improve your programming skills. The role is hybrid with 2-3 days per week in the office, candidates must be open to this hybrid pattern. Responsibilities Managing all aspects of Seopas local networks, including VPN servers, site-to-site VPN connections and helping to manage secure access to Seopas cloud-based infrastructure. Configuration and administration of SaaS-based systems, including Microsoft 365, Mimecast, and AWS. Liaising with third party contacts to collaborate on local IT administration, equipment acquisition and configuration. Collaborating with and supporting the Legal and Compliance team, helping with technical issues in relation to third party due diligence and audit requirements for our ISO 27001 accreditation. Designing and implementing data storage solutions and ensuring robust, secure, and reliable backup solutions are in place. Arranging quotes from potential suppliers, arranging and negotiating renewals with existing suppliers and effectively managing relationships with these suppliers. Building out the infrastructure and networking for in-house and customer projects. Working with development and operations teams to ensure that solutions are designed with security, scalability, performance, and interoperability in mind. Involvement in and supporting data science projects, the configuration of CI/CD pipelines and wider business initiatives to introduce automation where appropriate. Personal Specification Academics:Educated to degree level with a minimum 2:1 classification (or equivalent) and 3 grade Bs or above at A-Level are desirable, although not essential. Essential Requirements At least 1 year of experience workingin a network and infrastructure administration environment. Experience in the administration and supporting of Windows operating systems. Experience in the administration in a variety of SaaS solutions and open-source software, such as Microsoft 365, Apache webservers, PHP and MySQL. Experience with email administration, security, and backups. Experience of working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. Experience with monitoring and alerting systems, such as Nagios or Datadog. Capabilities Able to demonstrate good technical troubleshooting skills with hardware, software, and network equipment. Strong communication skills, able to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical colleagues and listen carefully to end-users technical concerns. Working knowledge of accessibility and security compliance issues. Desirable requirements Experienced with the administration of a Microsoft 365 Tenant, including working with Microsoft Intune, Exchange Online, Defender, Entra ID and managing licensing Scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, PHP or Bash to help automate IT tasks. Familiar with security best practices, such as data encryption, access controls and user authentication. Experienced in balancing technical decisions with user needs and commercial constraints. Experience with virtualisation software such as Vagrant, Xenserver or Docker. Linux server administration experience. Personal Qualities Good interpersonal skills and collaborative approach to work. Able to communicate issues to technical and non-technical people. Enthusiastic and motivated to self-educate. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
