IT Systems Engineer



Cala Consulting are recruiting for an IT Systems Engineer for their Belfast based client.  The company belong to a large plc and operate across Ireland and the UK. Working within a small team environment, the role of IT Systems Engineer will offer you the opportunity to support the business systems as well as being a key contributor to large, high impact projects for example; upgrades, new ecommerce website, VoIP, onboarding of acquisitions etc.



  



The role:



Reporting to the Head of IT & Digital, the IT Systems Engineer will help manage and assist operational activities including security, response planning, project management and various other responsibilities within the IT department. 





Deliver ‘IT best practice’ including:






    • Working towards target operating models / standards

    • Ensuring compliance with standards and procedures





Conduct regular information security reviews with the IT team including:






    • Vulnerability & patch management

    • Endpoint detection and response (EDR)

    • End of life systems (e.g. Windows operating systems etc.)

    • Secured, encrypted and tested backups

    • Multifactor authentication for remote access

    • PAM, DMARC & SPF

    • PEN tests





Response planning and testing for:






    • Business continuity

    • Disaster recovery

    • Ransomware recovery

    • Cyber incidents

    • Backup generator





IT Project management including:






    • New systems (e.g. VOIP)

    • New edge infrastructure (e.g. WiFi)

    • New core infrastructure (e.g. SAN, ESXi host upgrades / replacements)

    • Onboarding acquisitions





Business Intelligence Reporting






    • Design, implementation, and maintenance of BI reporting application (full training provided)





Undertake ad hoc project work and performing various other duties required to fulfil the role when required



Some out of hours and offsite work may be occasionally required





Experience required:




  • Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.  Experience will be considered also so whilst the degree is preferable it is not essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience

  • Good communication, organisational and time management skills

  • Experience managing other colleagues

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Work well as part of a team
