JavaScript Developer - Wildlife conservation

p Octophin are looking for a JavaScript developer to join our team in London building interactive maps, databases and more for many of the world's leading conservation organisations. /p br A variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the following role Please ensure you check the overview below carefully. br p Our work is some of the most fascinating and rewarding in the industry: building maps of sharks, seals, fish, seabirds, coral reefs and bear habitats, interfaces for anti-poaching camera traps and GPS turtle tags, online conservation technology communities, species databases for scientists, educational games and much more. /p p We're a small team who for the last eight years have built some of the most impactful software on the planet. /p p The ideal candidate will be a JavaScript developer happy to work in a dynamic, highly collaborative team and be willing to learn new skills and programming languages. /p p strong Required /strong /p ul li The ability to work at least three out of five days a week in our office in London /li li Expert knowledge of framework-agnostic JavaScript on both the server and client side /li li Knowledge of database design, structure and interfaces, particularly SQL /li li Knowledge of API design and use /li li The desire to learn new skills and programming languages (mentoring and paid for external training provided) /li li Great communication skills for both the team and the scientists we work with /li li A strong desire to put ethics at the heart of all decisions /li /ul p strong Welcome /strong /p ul li Knowledge of Python or PHP /li li Understanding of GIS and interactive mapping /li li Foundational knowledge of HTML and CSS standards /li /ul p strong Benefits /strong /p ul li Informal, uncapped and unquestioned approach to holiday and leave /li li Opportunities to attend international conferences and training /li li A wonderful workspace filled with for-good organisations /li li Work at an organisation that puts employee welfare and ethics at the heart of everything it does /li /ul p strong Salary: /strong £45,000 - £50,000 /p p strong Location /strong : Farringdon, London /p p strong Hybrid /strong : Minimum 3 days in office a week. /p p strong We cannot offer visa sponsorship. /strong /p
