Junior Category Manager
FMCG – Food
Maidenhead ( or Leigh, Manchester with regular travel to Maidenhead )
Salary – competitive (depending on experience) plus bonus
The opportunity:
A global food company with an amazing culture are, due to a recent internal promotion looking for a Junior Category Manager to be the Waitrose Category lead, to support on the Tesco account and take ownership of internal reporting and tools.
You will work closely with the Category lead for Tesco and the broader commercial teams to support the delivery of opportunities for long term sustainable growth, taking towards their vision of being the ‘go to people in World Foods and Speciality Condiments’
What will my key accountabilities be?
Tesco Category Support
Work as part of the Tesco category & commercial team to deliver long term sustainable growth.
Ownership of the range review process ( recommendations & performance reviews )
Be the go-to internally and externally for Tesco Express and Online ( range, space & activation )
Ad hoc analysis and recommendations e.g National Curry Week and Lunar New Year
Ownership of the Tesco monthly scorecard, digging into performance with a focus on what’s happening , why and what actions need to be taken.
Keeping one’s finger on the pulse with all things Tesco, e.g how recent promotions have performed, how NPD is performing, supporting with internal requests.
Waitrose Category Lead
Be the go to expert for Waitrose World Foods internally & externally, strengthening the ABWF/Waitrose relationship and increasing the presence of ABWF brands.
Credible range, space and activation recommendations through compelling, action based insights. Ownership of the range review process ( recommendations & performance reviews ).
Ad hoc analysis and recommendations based on requests from Waitrose
Internal reporting and Tools
Proficient in the use of all category tools as a foundation to build insight development, with a focus on Nielsen and Dunnhumby
Own and develop internal reports and tools & support the category team with key outtakes and grip
Management of the iHub to make category insights accessible to the wider sales & marketing team
Who will I be working with?
External: Customers – across Buying and Category teams
Internal: Wide range of stakeholders across sales, brand, shopper marketing, demand planning, and finance
A great candidate will have:
2/3 years category management experience in an FMCG environment
The ability to work with complex data and be able to develop compelling stories to positively influence others
Experience in building powerful partnerships at all levels and be able to communicate with impact, both internally & externally
Be nimble and able to manage ambiguity to make things happen at pace
Resilience in the face of obstacles and able to work under pressure
Enjoyment in thriving in a team environment, brining energy, creativity and a different perspective
