About the Role:
Are you passionate about the future of fusion energy and eager to contribute to groundbreaking projects? UKAEA is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our Building & Facilities Management Department. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the delivery of cost-effective operations and maintenance for our facilities, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Procurement Assistance:
* Support tender submissions and work streams to ensure compliance with Government procurement regulations, under the guidance of the Procurement team.
* Examine and verify baseline budget information for projects and maintenance tasks.
* Assist in responding to queries from prospective contractors and suppliers.
* Pre-Contract Estimating:
* Maintain and manage the contract database and material suppliers database.
* Assess tender documents to ensure sufficient information is available for accurate tender preparation.
* Take off quantities, prepare costings, and issue contract and material supply enquiries.
* Price buildings, civil engineering projects, and maintenance tasks, and conduct post-tender negotiations.
* Post-Contract Quantity Surveying:
* Maintain and advise on contract documentation and matters related to pre-tender and post-contract phases.
* Prepare and issue contractual correspondence to clients and sub-contractors.
* Liaise with clients, the design team, and manage material procurement.
* Handle sub-contract negotiations, interim valuations, site measurements, and variations.
* Prepare and submit project final accounts and support the agreement of final accounts.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of two years' relevant experience in construction, engineering, or facilities management.
* Proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
* Working knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
