What our Apprentice's say:
"Having previously been a teacher, I have now worked for Essex County Council and Essex Young Carers for four years. I love the variety of work that this job offers and the difference we make to Young Carers who were previously unknown and unheard. I have learned so much in such a short space of time. I love the job, my team and have so much pride in what we achieve."
"The team I work with are very supportive and everybody is happy to help and answer questions. They will rally together to give you the correct information, whether it be for an assignment for my apprenticeship or something on the job."
The Role:
As a Key Worker within the Young Carers Team, you will play an integral part in supporting the lives of young carers across Essex. You will be working with young carers (aged 0-18) and young adult carers (aged 16-24) and their families to provide individualised support in relation to their caring role, to raise achievement and aspirations and to allow them to have the same life chances as their peers.
You will complete statutory assessments with the young carer and their family which will be used to form an action plan to ensure the best targeted support can be offered. The interventions you offer will vary from 1:1 support, to helping the young carer engage in local clubs while ensuring schools are fully understanding of the young carers needs and impact of their caring role.
As part of the Young Carers Team, you will provide workshops and respite opportunities to help enhance the skills of our young carers and give them opportunities to meet other young people in similar situations.
In addition to the hands-on experience, the role will require successful 2-year study of the Level 3 Youth Support Worker qualification and include an end of study assessment. As part of the apprenticeship, you will have 6 hours per week allocated for learning and development.
If you are a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is looking for a challenging and rewarding apprenticeship opportunity, then the Key Worker Apprenticeship at Essex County Council is the perfect role for you!
