Job DescriptionManpower Recruitment are working with an established College in Oxford City Centre.We are recruiting for a Kitchen Porter Team Leader to support a busy college Kitchen.The role is 36Hrs per week, with some flexibility needed for overtime during busier periods.Shifts will include mornings, evenings, and weekends.The role is paying £25365pa.Purpose of the Job:Under the guidance and management of the Head Chef and Front of House Manager, (senior chefs and Supervisors in their absence), the Kitchen Porter Team Leader will lead a small team of Kitchen Porters for keeping the kitchen and all catering area clean along all kitchen equipment, cookware and crockery. Along carrying out daily and scheduled cleaning tasks, the candidate will have also to organise, delegate, supervise and monitor all tasks allocated to all Kitchen Porters. The position involves good verbal and written communication, organisation and supervisory skills.Key duties and Responsibilities:As Kitchen Porter Team Leader, we will expect you to:Carry out any daily and scheduled tasks as required.Organise, delegate, and supervise the Kitchen Porters team with cleaning schedule and daily tasks.Operate the dishwasher with the cleaning of crockery and kitchen equipment when required.Ensure that the Kitchen and other catering area are kept clean, and that procedures are maintained to ensure standards are met.Follow all Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and College’s policy and ensure that the whole team comply with them.Provide training and induction arrangements for new staff.Motivate and assess team performance.Assist with the order of PPE and COSHH products and ensure they are stored properly and used correctly.Report any maintenance and pest issue to Head Chef or Front of House ManagerEnsure that all waste and recyclable materials (including College Bar) are handled correctly and kept in line with instruction to minimise the risk of infestation.Ensure that the bin area is kept tidy at all times and that all bins are crushed when needed.Ensure that collection and delivery of laundry are done on time and well look after.Work in all areas of the kitchen depending on the daily needs of the Head Chef or FOH Manager, which will include helping with the preparation of a wide range of fresh food.Aid with plated up to the chefs during service time including fine dining dinner.Check, in conjunction with the Head Chef or Senior Chefs, the completeness of all suppliers’ deliveries and the correctness of their invoices.Work in a clean and organised manner, ensuring the unit kitchen is always left clean and tidy; ensure that all completed jobs are fully checked off before leaving the unit.Selection criteria:Enthusiastic and willing to learnGood time management and organisation skillsHave experience in a similar position in a professional kitchen.Possess reasonable knowledge in supervisory and leadership.Be able to communicate clearly, professionally, and concisely and be able to follow and pass instructions carefully.Demonstrate a flexible and reliable approach to work and be willing to do overtime when required.Perform well in pressurised situations, with the ability to remain calmBe positive, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work independently.Demonstrate the ability to work constructively and collaboratively with staff as a Team player.If interested, please get in contact with a Manpower Representative.
