Lab Technician

Job title: Lab Technician
Job Type: Contract
Start date: ASAP - Subject to clearance
Duration: 12 months
Salary: Competitive
Location: Thurso
Hours of work: 37 hours per week
Applicants must have experience of the following:
- Ability to gain SC clearance
- HND in science or equivalent plus relevant working experience
- Considerable analytic laboratory experience
- Relevant radiochemical and chemical knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Role information:
- Ensure sample preparation, routine analysis and reporting is undertaken and delivered for regulatory and project decommissioning analysis
- Identify and rectify constraints to minimise delays
- Undertake and deliver method development, validation and uncertainty estimation in the laboratory
- Prepare and review technical documentation
- Develop, maintain and review the chemical support services quality management system
- Ensure safety checks are completed and reported
- Ensure compliance with ISO 17025, 17020 and maintenance of UKAS accreditation
- Provide performance monitoring on internal performance against safety and quality and take remedial action where necessary
