Laboratory Manager

Cranleigh STEM is working with a global chemical manufacturer in Essex; we are looking for a Laboratory Manager to join its team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a laboratory supervisor or senior chemist to step up and manage a team of technicians.

You will be responsible for the smooth running of the testing laboratory, carrying out analysis and maintenance on instruments including TBN Mettler Toledo Auto titrator, Kinematic Viscosity, SciMed Rigaku XRF Metals Analyser, laboratory-mixers, UNICUBE Nitrogen Analyser, Anton Paar Density Meter.

Salary: �32,000 - �34,000

Hours: 08:30 to 16:30 Monday to Friday

Responsibilities:

• Supervise laboratory technicians, providing training and support as needed.
• Conduct performance reviews and set objectives for laboratory technicians.
• Conduct all in-house testing of raw materials & finished products.
• Manage the upkeep and ordering of all consumables required for the laboratory.
• Oversee sample disposal.
• Produce laboratory blends as requested.
• Ensure laboratory targets are met.
• Provide support to the Technical and Sales teams as required.
• Maintain laboratory equipment.
• Occasionally cover night shifts for holiday or sickness cover.
• Maintain high levels of health and safety management in the laboratory.
• Perform other related tasks as requested.

Requirements:

• Degree qualified in chemistry or closely related discipline.
• Previous experience managing/supervising an Analytical, QC, or Testing Laboratory.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently & and possess the ability to multitask.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
