Launch Engineer – Chassis 
Location: Daventry 
Salary: £50,000 D.O.E 
Hours: 08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday

Position Overview: 



The Chassis Launch Engineering team is responsible for ensuring the seamless transition of chassis systems and components from development to full-scale production. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in chassis-specific issue management, leading complex root cause analysis, deviation management, and warranty resolution. 



As a Chassis Launch Engineer, you will be a key subject matter expert responsible for the structural, suspension, steering, braking, and drivetrain elements of vehicle development. This role demands cross-functional collaboration with Launch Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supplier Development, Manufacturing, and Programme Teams to ensure the chassis system is production-ready. 



Key Responsibilities: 



  • Launch readiness management of chassis system content, ensuring design integrity and manufacturability.
  • Validation & sign-off of first-off chassis builds and virtual assessments.
  • Programme Change Point Capture – Critical Chassis PFMEA & Control Plan development.
  • Chassis Design Review Support – Alignment to Perceived Quality Targets, DFMEA, and Lessons Learnt.
  • Torque & Critical Build Recordables Database development for chassis components.
  • Validation of chassis-related Quality Targets and perceived quality attributes.
  • Chassis-specific Quality Validation Process development and system improvements.
  • Rapid response to chassis-specific issues pre-series release – analysis, containment, and resolution.
  • Leading Global Root Cause Analysis for chassis-related concerns.
  • Management of Global Build Deviation Requests for chassis components and subsystems.
  • Stakeholder management for Permanent Corrective Actions affecting chassis performance and durability.
  • Chassis warranty analysis – issue tracking, problem-solving, and countermeasure implementation.
  • Continuous improvement of QMS systems, processes, and procedures for chassis development.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 





  • Proven experience in chassis system launches within the automotive industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of chassis components (suspension, steering, braking, subframes, powertrain mounting).
  • Strong understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA, and Lessons Learnt within chassis development.
  • Prior experience in chassis quality assurance, issue resolution, and problem prevention.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organisation.
  • Comfortable presenting chassis launch status updates in high-level business forums.
  • Experience working in high-pressure, reactive environments with tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills for chassis system challenges.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
