JOB TITLE: Lead Data Engineer

SALARY: £87,000pa to £102,000pa plus the benefits listed below.

LOCATION: Manchester

HOURS: Full-time.

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week on site and 3 days from home. Additionally, you can work from home all 5 days a week between the months of July and September each year.

We're looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our friendly, multiskilled team based in Manchester. Your role will include building data pipelines and products through extraction, transformation and analysis of data from internal and external sources. You’ll also be responsible for the delivery of large projects and ensuring consistency in the standards and methods of the Data Engineering community. You’ll also provides insightful, high quality complex information and advice to stakeholders.

What you'll be doing...

  • Taking responsibility for developing and delivering a key element of the organisation's data management system.

  • Providing input into the development of IT Security policies, developing underlying procedures and monitoring their implementation for area of responsibility within the organisation.

  • Analysing and evaluating the feasibility/relevance of proposals for complex products/services, then developing and amending as necessary with guidance from senior colleagues and/or supervising activities performed by a product development/specialist team.

  • Managing and delivering required outcomes for a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.

  • Identifying and evaluating complex expertise-led solutions against a range of criteria to find the ones that best meet business needs.

  • Setting longer term objectives and taking responsibility for implementing and coordinating performance management systems for a substantial department within the organisation.

  • Managing output delivery for a substantial operational department by leading others.

  • Managing the development and/or operation of knowledge management system with guidance from senior colleagues.

We’re looking for someone who can ……

  • Develop training courses to meet identified needs to improve performance and meet business requirements, while running complex leadership development programs to enable personal transformations.

  • Analyse key themes using data from a wide range of sources and identifies possible impacts on the business.

  • Take responsibility for implementing formal development frameworks for a substantial department, while informally coaching and mentoring others throughout the organisation and investing in own personal development.

  • Initiate, formulate and implement new business practices for own discipline, while managing the development and/or delivery of a significant element of the organisation's change management programme.

  • Manage relationships with key internal customers and act as their business partner, while typically using support teams to ensure client satisfaction.

  • Engage with senior business leaders to understand long-term strategic challenges.

  • Make a significant improvement on short-term or long-term business performance by recommending authoritative technical and/or professional solutions.

About you

  • Experience in GCP/cloud transformation projects (Cloud Postgres SQL, Cloud SQL, Big Query, Cloud Spanner).

  • Familiarity with Kafka, K-Stream Application, Kafka BQ Connector, Kafka, K-Stream Application, Kafka BQ Connector.

  • Knowledge of DevOps principles, practices and working experience with tools such as Docker, Cloud, Jenkins, Splunk.
