Requirements are to challenge the design all the way through the process including any processes that delay timely production of design documentation.Key ResponsibilitiesTo comply with company procedures and work instructions, guide notes and other information that forms part of the quality assurance, health and safety and environmental management systems.To co-ordinate multi-disciplinary design development, including design coordination meetings, buildability review and client reviews. This includes the design interface agreement, sharing of developing design information and formal issue.To establish integrated design programmes by working with the design teams and planners, tracking and monitoring design deliverables using design trackers and design development logs.To assist the Project Manager with tracking design cost to complete against agreed deliverables and instructions.Implement Barhale design process and Design Management Plan to allocated projectsFacilitate interdisciplinary design review meetingsReview and accept design documentation level of completeness prior to client submission, ensuring all design documentation is logged correctlyCollate all necessary design information for Health & Safety fileTo ensure all design meets with the necessary client specifications and any national standards using the support of technical specialists where necesaryCarry out and implement technical governance (including requirements schedule) at the beginning of all projectsHold Challenge workshops at commencement of project and at completion of outline designReview Particular Specifications (PS) to ensure minimum required information is submitted for procurementAny other duties commensurate with the position as may be assigned from time to timeKey Measures and TargetsConformance with the Company’s Health & Safety PolicyAccuracy and quality of own and sub-ordinates engineering workAbility to meet own and sub-ordinates proposal or project timescales - all within budgetAbility to work within a team environmentContribution made to the development of Engineering department procedures and SystemsConformance with the Company’s Quality Assurance SystemKey RelationshipsRegional Managers, Engineering Managers, Operational Managers, and Contracts ManagersSite Agents and Site teamGeneral PublicRegional HSEQ teamQuality and Technical Assurance ManagerCommunication teamAbout youEssentialHNC/D in civil, electrical, mechanical or process engineering or equivalent level qualificationProcess Safety/Hazard ManagementCDM Regulations 2015 (for Designers preferred)Demonstrable experience commensurate to the level of the role, preferably within the water/wastewater industry or other relevant sectorExperience in working within a design and build environment.IT literate with an ability to use a wide range of IT packages including Microsoft OfficeWell-developed interpersonal skillsStrong attention to detailStrong communication skills, both written and oralCommercial acumenAbility to work on multiple tasksAbility to work under pressure and to deadlinesAbility to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary teamCaring and investing in youOur values have been embedded at Barhale for over 40 years and they are our guiding principle regarding how we care and invest in people.
