We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead First Aider to join one of the fantastic John Taylor Multi Academy Trust Schools in Burton upon Trent. This is a vital role ensuring the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors by providing high-quality first aid support across the school.

Key Responsibilities


  • Administer first aid to students, staff and visitors, ensuring appropriate care and escalation when required.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all incidents and treatments in line with school policies and statutory requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring the first aid supplies and equipment throughout the school and within the medical room are monitored and maintained.
  • Support the school’s health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant policies.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and medical professionals when necessary.
  • Assist with student welfare duties, including medical care plans and medication administration.
  • Participate in safeguarding responsibilities as part of the wider school team.
  • Liaise with the school health service over arrangements of medical inspections, vaccines etc
  • To provide administration services to the school in a timely and efficient manner

Person Specification


  • A valid First Aid qualification (such as First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid).
  • Previous experience in a first aid or medical support role, preferably in an educational or similar setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A caring, empathetic, and professional approach to student welfare.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Sufficient administration experience
