Lead Pharmacist

About the role...

The Lead Pharmacist will develop the Clinical Pharmacy program within the Pharmacy Sourcing Team, evaluate pharmaceutical products, and create implementation plans for Clinical/Sourcing Initiatives. This role involves identifying growth opportunities and aligning new technologies with our client's strategic goals. Building and managing member relationships to drive value and organizational growth is essential.

What you'll be doing...

  • Develop and implement Clinical Pharmacy strategies and work plans.
  • Manage initiatives to achieve strategic and tactical goals.
  • Review and optimize the current pharmaceutical portfolio.
  • Implement Medicines Optimisation and product standardization.
  • Analyze financial and clinical data for strategic recommendations.
  • Develop documents and processes to quantify savings.
  • Maintain communications with members and facilitate interaction opportunities.
  • Build relationships with Chief Pharmacists and procurement leads.
  • Support internal departments as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of current clinical practices and products.
  • Analyze and develop implementation plans for clinical and sourcing opportunities.
  • Evaluate new products and therapeutic drug classes.
  • Develop new programs based on market trends.
  • Support framework specification reviews and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide updates and support to regional pharmacy networks.
  • Offer advice on legislation and training.
  • Review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Supplier and Customer Relationship Management

Supplier:

  • Build strong supplier relationships and identify new technologies.
  • Conduct regular supplier meetings and provide customer feedback.

Customer:

  • Strengthen customer relationships through regular interactions.
  • Interact with Pharmacy and Clinical leaders to achieve optimization goals.

Responsible Person

  • Act as the Named Person for the MHRA Brokers License.
  • Maintain a GDP Quality Management System.
  • Manage change, deviations, and quality risks.
  • Chair Management Review Meetings.
  • Ensure GDP training is in place.
  • Coordinate recall operations and handle customer complaints.
  • Verify supplier and customer licenses and prevent falsified medicines.
  • Approve subcontracted activities affecting GDP.
  • Ensure self-inspections and corrective measures are in place.

Communication is key!

  • Communicate business strategies with stakeholders, customers, and suppliers.
  • Facilitate internal conversations during sourcing initiatives.
  • Highlight clinical benefits in Contract Launch Packages.

Collaboration is a must!

  • Collaborate with the sourcing team and commercial analysts.
  • Design training programs with Learning and Development.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships, meeting or exceeding expectations.

Change and adapt!

  • Lead business, organizational, and cultural change initiatives.
  • Communicate changes to clients and manage operational impacts.
