Job Role: Lead Plant Engineer (Plant, Horticultural & Agricultural).

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Salary: £40,(Apply online only)-£55,(Apply online only) per annum (OTE £65,(Apply online only)+)

Hours: Monday-Friday 06.30-16:00 + Overtime + Door to Door

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Interaction have partnered with a market leading and rapidly developing horticultural business that assists the Civil, Rail & Government sectors in the removal and disposal of vegetation & horticultural settings. Due to rapid growth and the welcoming of some major contracts, we are now looking to expand the engineering team with a skilled Plant Engineer/Fitter that will potentially progress into a management level position.

The Duties:


  • To help maintain & service a variety of horticultural & agricultural plant-based machinery inclusive of Chippers, Grinders, Loaders, MEWPS, Excavators, Diggers, Gag Mowers alongside an array of smaller tools such as strimmer’s & chainsaws.
  • Be open to travel and overnight stays (fully expensed) – this role is 75% Workshop, 25% Field Based.
  • Organise and deliver testing on machinery for LOLER & PUWER Inspections directly with suppliers.
  • To develop, organise and grow the workshop machinery tools and team.
  • Work closing with operational management to present new ideas and innovations for ways of working to make it more efficient &/or safer.
  • To partake in training & development courses to refresh or learn new skills regarding both products and processes.
  • Open to learn all aspects of engineering surrounding Plant, Construction & Agricultural vehicles.
  • To work on an element of on call if/when required.

The Requirements:


  • Previous experience as a plant or agricultural engineer for a minimum of 2 years.
  • A good working knowledge of mechanical fault finding repair inclusive of hydraulic systems.
  • A good base knowledge of electrical fault finding, repair and the ability to read electrical diagrams is essential.
  • A drive to both develop in hands on practical skills alongside progress in leadership/management.
  • Full UK Drivers License
  • You must be a team player & open to both teach, support and learn from the people around you.
  • A valid CSCS Card & relevant qualifications (City & Guilds or NVQ in plant maintenance & repair
