Learning and Development Lead

Location - Bradford area

Salary - £37,000 per annum.

Closing date - September 30th 2024       

Summary of role:      

The role will require you to be motivated to improve, maintain and continuously enhance The Bridge’s workforce. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of The Bridge’s learning and development needs and training programmes. You will be a critical part of creating a learning environment that reflects The Bridge’s values. This will involve ongoing exploration into new learning and engagement methods both live and digital.

This role will be the fundamental to inspire and develop our workforce at all levels and provide oversight of staff practice in the homes. Tracking, auditing and ongoing compliance is a crucial component of the role.

The Bridge provides community based registered care services for people with learning disabilities, autism and associated complex care needs. We provide personalised outcome based support to enable individuals with enhanced care and support needs to live safely, happily and successfully in the community.

What you'll do:

Learning & Organizational Development


  • Develop, lead and oversee our training programmes to align with business goals, talent strategies, and meet all compliance requirements.
  • Take a leading role in designing and implementing our talent management and leadership development programme. This is in support of our long-term strategy to create Managers of the future at all levels.
  • Be present in our homes to oversee staff practice and drive improvement where required.
  • Oversee, train and upskill Training Mentors and staff alike to meet CQC standards and provide high quality support
  • To support the delivery of our Physical Intervention training programme (ARC)
  • Monitor, update and understand our Learning Management System to ensure that training records are up to date and scheduled where required and that staff attend training where required.  
  • Ensure key compliance training is up to date, including Care Certificate, mandatory training and competency assessments of staff. Where gaps exist support the delivery of training or facilitation of others (through upskilling) to ensure training us up to date
  • Contribute to The Bridge’s training content and managing compliance for both in person and virtual learning. 
  • Conduct comprehensive needs analyses on a continuous basis, recognise emerging patterns, and provide recommendations to address gaps and/or potential opportunities.
  • Research and implement best practice to support a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Work in partnership with our homes and other central functions to ensure there is an  appropriate scope and focus for Learning & Development in the organisation to support high quality services.
  • To introduce teaching methods to ensure training sessions are meaningful, engaging and tailored to the audience to best encourage the retention of key information
  • Monitor and evaluate training programmes effectiveness and success and report on them
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices

  • Support the development of content, framework, process, training and tools that support a comprehensive Management Development programme.
  • Update and partner with the Training Manager on a regular basis (weekly) concerning relevant initiatives, programs, or applicable training changes.

You have:

Essential


  • Minimum three years of experience in a health and social care management role from Team Leader/ Senior upwards
  • The ability to develop and lead a positive team environment
  • Experience in guiding, supporting and training colleagues
  • Understand Care Certificate Criteria and support their completion and/or oversight where required
  • An understanding of CQC requirements and compliance standards
  • The ability to deliver training at all levels from induction through to supporting management development
  • Proficient user of IT including Microsoft Office Tools to include Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams Meeting as well as bespoke training software applications

Desirable


  • Experience of working within a training role
  • A trainer or teaching qualification
  • An Assessor’s award in Health and Social Care
  • A good understanding of diplomas at all levels

You also have:


  • Superior verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experience managing a diverse workforce
  • Self-motivation and are highly organised, with the ability to prioritise independently while demonstrating a sense of urgency, strong ethical standards and integrity
  • A good working understanding of organisational culture, business strategy and priorities, financial targets, and budgets, and industry competitive knowledge.
  • The ability to represent The Bridge with professionalism, poise and model the values.
  • Proven organisational and follow-up skills, comfortable initiating and responding to high volume of emails and other communication.
  • The ability to work flexibly and to work hours to meet the service needs and engage with staff on different shift patterns.
  • To support the Training Manager on additional projects or company initiatives when necessary.
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to different homes
