Job Title: Legal Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs, International Television & Digital Distribution, EMEA Department: Business and Legal Affairs, International Television & Digital Distribution, EMEA Reports to: Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs, International Television & Digital Distribution, EMEA Location: London, UK A leading global entertainment company with a strong and diversified presence in motion picture production and distribution, television programming and syndication, home entertainment, family entertainment, digital distribution, new channel platforms and international distribution and sales. This is an exceptional opportunity to gain international experience in TV & digital sales providing legal support to an EMEA sales team based in London under supervision. The role of Legal Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs, International Television & Digital Distribution, EMEA will be part of the in-house legal team providing business and legal affairs advice on of all aspects of television and digital distribution licensing across all platforms in EMEA. The role reports to Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs, International Television & Digital Distribution, EMEA who is also based in the London office. The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer with at least 2-3+ years PQE ideally with experience (including in-house) of international television and digital distribution / sales distribution. Key Responsibilities Include: Drafting, negotiating, reviewing and finalizing agreements for international TV & digital content distribution, reporting to Senior Vice President and working under supervision of senior team members (as directed by Senior Vice President). Provide commercially focused legal advice to assist International Television & Digital Distribution sales team. Problem solving in relation to commercial/legal/regulatory issues arising from TV & digital content licensing deals, specifically in the UK and EMEA territories. Reviewing and analysing contractual provisions on a regular basis to ensure that they reflect current practice and maintaining standard contract templates. Liaising with and advising Rights, Finance, Sales Planning, Compliance and Tax departments based in the UK and LA on legal and business-related matters. Assist with implementing and administering the relevant business processes, policies, and procedures relevant to TV & digital content licensing, and for Lionsgate generally. Key Skills Required: A qualified lawyer with at least 2-3+ years post qualification experience, ideally including in-house. TV and digital content distribution experience, and proven experience in negotiation of commercial contracts. Good understanding of contract, commercial and copyright licensing as it applies to TV & digital content distribution. Confident to be able to negotiate a contract through to execution, and to make decisions on appropriate action in respect of negotiation and be able to judge when to escalate matters to Senior Vice President, or other senior team members. Excellent drafting skills with the ability to convey the meaning of complex legal provisions and agreements to non-legal teams. Highly organized and thorough with strong attention to detail as well as an ability to deliver consistent high-quality work. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and use own initiative, readily assumes responsibility and good at problem solving, thrives on challenges and has a desire to be innovative to help drive Lionsgate s fast-paced business forward. Excellent communication at all levels (verbal and written) as well as the ability to communicate in a succinct manner. Has good time-management skills and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload on multiple projects simultaneously on tight deadlines. Operate collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to build relationships with personnel at all levels and support other members of the team as needed.
