WHAT WILL YOU DO? We are looking for a Legal Counsel to work with our in-house legal team on a variety of legal matters, including compliance with Canadian privacy laws and the EU s GDPR, negotiating master service agreements ( MSA ) and ordinary course commercial transactions. As the UK legal liaison, you will have at least 5 years of legal experience gained in private practice and/or a technology company that is subject to privacy laws, drafting complex commercial contracts (specific to the IT Sector). Working closely with the legal team and international compliance team, this exciting, strategic in-house counsel position is dedicated to ensuring the company's global privacy policies and procedures are in good standing, developing new policies/procedures and assisting the legal team with its commercial operations. The Legal Counsel will report to the Vice President, Legal and Corporate Secretary. You will have a wide and varied role, but your main responsibilities will include; Working with the Company's global team to provide strategic, timely, and accurate legal advice on international privacy and data security-related matters, regulations and guidelines that affect the Company. Assisting with the development, maintenance and enforcement of the Company s policies and procedures Ensuring general compliance with respect to global privacy and data protection laws Advising on legal and regulatory aspects of privacy disclosures, data collection and any related issues Analyze, draft, negotiate and finalize a broad array of commercial contracts including master services agreements, SAAS agreements, licensing agreements, confidentiality and data protection agreements, etc. Advising on general business law issues and managing legal issues including corporate & regulatory matters, including procurement In support of the group intellectual property strategy, provide legal guidance to in protecting Dye & Durham innovations and brands worldwide and minimizing any legal exposure to claims against Dye & Durham for intellectual property infringement. Liaise with external counsel and advisors, as needed Proactively identify privacy risks and work with the business to assess and manage privacy risks both domestically and internationally Perform other related duties as required or requested WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE CONSIDERED? We know you will have a wide and varied skill set, but we think to thrive in this role you will need; J.D. or LL.B. and membership in good standing with the Law Society of England and Wales. 5-7 years of experience in private practice or an in-house corporate role focussed on privacy law, ideally with a public technology or software focussed company Translate complex legal principles into practical and effective business solutions In depth knowledge of GDPR, and other privacy laws. Experience negotiating and drafting complex MSAs involving the provision of technology services, SAAS agreements, data protection agreements and software licence and other licence agreements Knowledge of intellectual property laws is considered an asset Ability to deal with large volumes of work, strong work ethic The ability to take initiative, using independent thinking and autonomy to look for potential issues and take pre-emptive action Outstanding communication and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues remotely and across different time zones, with a passion for collaboration and working with people to achieve over-arching goals WHY WORK FOR US?
