We’re looking for a commercially-minded, solutions-orientated lawyer to join our Tesco Bank team of General Counsels as a Legal Counsel.
Our Legal Team enjoys the privilege of overseeing all aspects of the Tesco Bank business and acting as strategic advisors to stakeholders. This role would be ideal either for a financial services specialist looking to develop a more rounded end-to-end skill set or for a commercial generalist looking to develop a financial services expertise.
What you’ll be doing
In the role of Legal Counsel you identify and manage legal risk in delivering targeted, commercially-focused legal advice on corporate, commercial and regulatory legal matters across Tesco Bank, including:
- support and advice on retail banking products, their development, customer journeys and product terms and conditions
- negotiating and advising upon third party service, data and software contracts
- advising on general commercial and regulatory legal queries
We need you to have
- Qualified solicitor with valid practising certificate in a UK jurisdiction (practising certificates in relevant overseas jurisdictions may be considered)
- Significant commercial legal experience either in-house or in private practice
- Track record of delivering pragmatic, risk-based legal advice
- Experience of strong relationship management (both internal and external stakeholders)
And if you have any of these, even better
- Experience in the finance or technology sectors would be advantageous and desirable
- Experience of advising on retail financial services products, Consumer Credit matters and regulation would be desirable
