About the role:
We are hiring an experienced and ambitious Legal Counsel. The candidate will support the International Legal Team in its delivery of contracts, advice and training to manage legal risks across Envision’s global wind farm and battery energy storage project delivery business, potentially extend to other products business units, and support Envision’s strategy to maintain its position as a leading renewable energy developer.
Key responsibilities:
Preparing, reviewing, drafting, negotiating, executing, managing and advising on the full lifecycle suite of wind farm and battery energy storage project development, construction and maintenance contracts (including EPC, TSA/Supply, BOP, O&M, LTSA and procurement contracts).
Ensuring consistent management of all proposals and contracts, including oversight of the contract management process, development of specific standards for NDAs, HOTs, bidding and submission, contract negotiations and document management.
Supporting and reporting to management on corporate governance, regulatory compliance and risk management initiatives, with a focus on compliance and project contractor risk assessment. Providing commercial / contract support to sales and project execution teams.
Developing and maintaining various contract and legal process templates and playbooks.
Training colleagues on legal matters and contract management.
Completing tender reviews and negotiations with customers and suppliers working on a range of contracts including FIDIC.
Taking a leading role in any claims management and dispute resolution.
Instructing external counsel, if necessary.
Qualification and expertise:
Strong academic qualifications in Law degree or equivalent is required.
Qualified projects/construction lawyer with 2-4 years PQE, gained in private practice or in-house.
Experience in a legal / commercial / contract management function relating to international renewable energy projects (ideally onshore or offshore wind farm projects, energy storage, power generation, transmission and distribution (T&D).
Experience of working in a large, global organization or UK government with different stakeholders, working practices and cultures.
Experience in developing and delivering international business improvement initiatives, policies and training.
Knowledge of international projects/construction law in practice, including wind energy contracts, such as EPC, TSA, BOP, O&M, LTSA, PPA, service and procurement contracts.
Knowledge of Battery Regulatory is preferred.
Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the Group.
Strong change and project management skills, including the ability to manage time well, prioritise effectively and handle multiple deadlines.
Ability to use independent judgement and discretion when making decisions. Detail-oriented analytical approach needed to recommend solutions and implement strategic improvements on a range of legal issues.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
Fluent English; Spanish, other European languages or Chinese would be considered as an advantage.
