Location : Brighton College, BN2 0AL
Salary: £25,500 - £27,500 per annum (depending on skills and experience)
Main purpose of the role:
As Leisure Duty Manager, you will work as part of a team to take responsibility for the operation and management of the award-winning School of Science and Sports Facilities, opened in 2020. You will ensure that the facilities are kept to the highest standard and that exceptional levels of customer service are delivered at all times.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide a professional and friendly welcome to all users.
Promote and provide an environment that is clean, safe and comfortable for all users.
Ensure that all staff on duty are following the appropriate policies and procedures.
Ensure timetables sessions are set up and cleared away promptly.
Ensure adequate lifeguarding of swimming pool sessions.
Cleaning duties as required on a day-to-day basis to achieve the highest standards of presentation, supported by the Cleaning team.
Liaise with the school facilities, grounds and cleaning departments to ensure the effective maintenance and cleanliness of the building.
Ensure the building opens and closes at scheduled times.
Conduct regular building patrols to ensure cleanliness and safe use of facilities.
Manage and operate the swimming pool plant in accordance with the Operating Manuals to ensure appropriate dosing of the pool to maintain water quality.
Monitoring the safe and effective performance of the swimming pool through bacteriological monitoring, chemical monitoring, back-washing, plant and treatment monitoring.
Ensure routine maintenance, checks and inspections of plant, machinery and equipment are carried out (by others, where appropriate). Working closely with the Head of Sport and Science Facilities to achieve this.
Assist with the supervision of contractors with respect to health and safety, safeguarding, access and compliance documentation.
Promptly investigate, document and report on any incidents or accidents.
Be familiar with the Colleges Health & Safety Policy and its application to all site facilities.
Any other reasonable management request.

Desirable Training:
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) (if the post-holder does not already possess this qualification, they will need to successfully obtain this during probation and pass a swimming test at interview stage).
Experience of working in a leisure environment with a swimming pool.
Training in the following areas: Pool Plant Operator, First Aid, Manual Handling, COSHH and Child Protection.
Candidates must be able to achieve the following as part of the swimming test:
Jump/dive into deep water.
Swim 50 meters in less than 60 seconds.
Swim 100 meters continuously on front and back in deep water.
Tread water for 30 seconds.
Surface dive to the floor of the pool.
Climb out unaided without ladder/steps.
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week split over seven days, which will include early, late and weekend shifts.
The rota will require the Duty Manager to cover one in three weekends.
Overtime may also be required with the approval of the Head of Sport and Science Facilities
Remuneration:
The salary for this role will be £25,500 - £27,500 per annum depending on skills and experience.
Holidays:
23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service. (of which 3 days need to be taken between Christmas and New Year when the College is closed).
