JA1369 – Lightning Protection Engineer
Location – London & Southeast
Salary –Up to £38K DOE and location + O/T
Type – Permanent Full-time 47.5 hours/week
 Overview:
 We are currently recruiting for a Lightning Protection Engineer for our client’s expanding business. The successful candidate will be required to cover the London & Southeast region of the country and will work on a rota system which may include working away for 1 week per month.
You will install lightning protection and earthing systems on various structures across private, public, industrial, and commercial sectors, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
Please note: Lightening protection experience in mandatory for this role with a minimum NVQ Level 3.
Key Accountabilities:


  • Installation: Install lightning protection and earthing systems on tall structures like high-rise offices and flats, following pre-designed schemes and risk assessments.
  • Upgrades: Undertake upgrades to existing lightning protection systems as per provided instructions.
  • Safety: Utilize scaffolding, work platforms, and safety devices to work safely at heights.
  • Documentation: Complete all company paperwork accurately, including risk assessments, job sheets, and timesheets.
  • Client Communication: Provide on-site communications and advice to clients or project managers, representing the company professionally.

Job Context / Key Challenges:


  • Lightning Protection is a highly regulated niche service, requiring annual testing (BS EN 62305:#####).
  • Work is predominantly outdoors and at height, requiring access to rooftops and challenging locations.
  • Projects range from high-rise residential to industrial structures, necessitating travel and driving.

Role Dimensions:


  • Individual contributor reporting to an operations or Contracts Leader.
  • Customer-facing role, representing the company and brand nationwide.
  • National role with occasional travel away from home as per customer needs.

Person Profile:


  • Experience: Strong experience in lightning protection (installation, testing, or repair).
  • Qualifications: NVQ 2 or NVQ 3 as a Lightning Conductor Engineer, CSCS card holder.
  • Customer Service: Previous experience in a field service environment with customer interaction.
  • Skills: Good planning, organization, and communication skills.
  • Desirable: IPAF, SSSTS, and PASMA qualifications, full UK driving license.
