Job Overview: The Literacy Intervention Specialist will work closely with students who require additional support in literacy. The successful candidate will provide targeted instruction and interventions to improve reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and writing skills. This role involves collaborating with classroom teachers, support staff, and parents to develop and implement effective literacy strategies.

Overview:

• Title: Literacy Intervention Teaching Assistant
• Pay: £83.50 per day minimum
• Location: Grangetown, Cardiff
• Hours: Full time/Part time, - Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 3:15 pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess student's literacy levels using a variety of diagnostic tools.
• Develop and implement individualised intervention plans based on student needs.
• Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to students identified as needing additional support.
• Monitor and track student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate literacy strategies into regular classroom instruction.
• Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
• Use evidence-based practices to deliver effective literacy interventions.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in literacy instruction.
• Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment for students.

The role: What you'll be doing as a Literacy Intervention Teaching Assistant

• Helping bridge the gap for learners where English isn't their first language
• Work in partnership with other members of staff to support the learners in their care
• Supporting the class Teacher with the planning for the lesson
• Support learners individually, in small groups and on a full-class basis
• Engage learners with both classroom and outside-classroom activities
• Work in accordance to the school's behaviour management policies

The candidate: What you'll need to be successful as a Literacy Intervention Teaching Assistant

• Registration as a School Learning Support Worker with the EWC (the Education Workforce Council) - we can help you with this
• References covering the last two years (no gaps)
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
• The right to work in the UK
