Applications are invited for a locum consultant general anaesthetist. Main interests include vascular anaesthesia and perioperative medicine. This is a full-time post at 10 PAs with 8.5 PAs for direct clinical care (DCC) and 1.5 PAs for SPA in support of personal CPD, preparation for GMC appraisal, and revalidation.Applicants should have the FRCA or an equivalent qualification and have suitable experience as described in the person specification in the job plan description. They should be on the GMC Specialist Register with a license to practice. Experience of NHS working practices and systems is essential. The essential qualifications need to be met in order to be shortlisted. There are over 60 trainees from St George's School of Anaesthesia and clinical fellows who rotate through the anaesthesia subspecialties. Several colleagues have held national leadership roles.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will join the General Group of Anaesthetists, which consists of approximately 35 Consultants. This is a friendly, approachable, dynamic, and diverse group, who are enthusiastic in both teaching colleagues and learning new skills from colleagues. There is an emphasis on well-being and supporting each other. The case mix at St George's tends to be complex and challenging. Given the huge expertise in the department, it is easy to seek advice and discuss with an expert in a certain field or acquire new skills.
