Freight & Logistics Coordinator

Location: Manchester - M38

Salary �27,500 - �30,000

Hours - Mon - Thursday 8:30-17:00 - Friday 8:30 - 16:00

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Freight & Logistics Controller specialising in Sea Freight to join our team based in Little Hulton in Manchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the transportation and delivery of goods via sea freight, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and overseeing export and import processes.

This is a great opportunity to join the Freight and customs team of a recognised textile manufacturing business. Working as part of our team you will be involved in the businesses International logistics & customs activities. The business imports 1000 TEU per annum and manage specialist customs procedures including CFSP, Customs Warehousing and Inward Processing. There is plenty to become involved with, we have an experienced and supportive team, often running training and knowledge share sessions to keep ourselves up to date.

Freight & Logistics Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of sea freight logistics, including transportation, shipping, and delivery
  • Manage customs entries and declarations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations
  • Ooversee the export and import processes, handling documentation and compliance requirements
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers
  • Monitor freight costs and provide analysis and reports to support cost-effective decision-making
  • Ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods, resolving any transportation or logistics issues as needed
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to optimize sea freight operations

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in sea freight logistics, customs entries, and declarations
  • In-depth knowledge of export and import processes and regulations
  • Strong understanding of sea freight operations and supply chain management
  • Proficiency in using logistics software and systems
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Day-to-Day

  • Coordinate sea freight shipments and ensure timely delivery
  • Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers
  • Handle customs entries and documentation for export and import
  • Monitor and analyze freight costs and performance metrics
