Job Objectives:
\n
Provide day-to-day leadership of the Shipping department by advising and directing the team to ensure a prompt and efficient shipping service for the Company in compliance with all transportation regulations.

Scope of Position:

\n- \nNumber of Subordinates: 3
\n- \nFinancial Volume: £1m transport spend PA
\n- \nOther Shipping: ~1,500 order lines PCM
\n
\n
\n
Responsibilities:
\n
Strategy & Development
\n
\n- Lead the implementation of best practice logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to improve operational performance.
\n
\n
General and Task Management
\n
\n- Ensure regulatory compliance for the import and export of goods.
\n- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimization opportunities.
\n- Implement best practice logistics policies and procedures for the HPL & TSS sites to improve operational and financial performance.
\n- Address escalations to help resolve Shipping department issues.
\n- Attend site meetings to drive improvement in OTIF (On-Time In-Full).
\n- Ensure complaints are processed promptly.
\n- Participate in the completion of shipping documentation and order bookings.
\n- Ensure timely submission of metrics, reports, and process documentation.
\n- Assist the DGSA in the mandatory collation and reporting of dangerous goods-related matters.
\n- Serve as the subject matter expert for shipping from HPL and TSS sites.
\n- Support Procurement in carrier selection and monitor service against performance criteria.
\n- Assist in process mapping and training for ERP enhancements within the Shipping department.
\n- Maintain responsibility for the health & safety of the shipping department.
\n- Perform other duties as required within operational guidelines.

\n- Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team to meet objectives and deliver continuous improvement.
\n- Set departmental objectives/KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews.
\n- Report on target achievements and identify required actions.
\n- Ensure workload balance and adequate absence coverage within the team.
\n- Ensure the Shipping team stays up to date with legal and regulatory training requirements.
\n- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements:
\n
\n- Numerate and literate.
\n- Certified in Dangerous Goods by Air.
\n- Certified in Dangerous Goods by Road and Sea.
\n- Proven experience in managing a team.
\n- Demonstrated expertise in shipping hazardous chemicals.
\n- Strong time management skills.
\n- Experience in transformational change management.
\n- Excellent communication skills.
\n- Client-driven approach.
\n- Dangerous Goods trained in Air (IATA ICAO), Sea (IMDG), and Road (ADR).
\n- Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
\n- Highly organised with strong diligence.
\n- Proficiency in computer applications and MS Office.
\n- Initiative-taking, flexible, and capable of meeting strict deadlines.
\n- Committed to achieving high standards of service.
