Gateshead Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Long Term Child Protection Team. We are committed to safeguarding children and providing high-quality support to families facing complex challenges.
About the Role:
You will be part of a team dedicated to:
- Providing intensive support and interventions to children who are subject to Child Protection Plans, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Working collaboratively with families, children, and other agencies to deliver effective and timely interventions.
- Engaging with families, building trust and rapport to support positive change.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Advocating for the needs of children and families, ensuring their voices are heard.
- Participating in regular supervision and professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of children and families, identifying their needs and risks.
- Develop and implement individualised care plans for children subject to Child Protection Plans, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Work closely with families, children, and other agencies to deliver timely and appropriate interventions.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Participate in multi-agency meetings and collaborative working groups.
- Provide information, advice, and support to other professionals on safeguarding issues.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the team and service delivery.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
- Social Care England registration.
- Updated DBS check.
- Experience working with children and families in a child protection setting.
- Experience working with children subject to Child Protection Plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing demands.
- Commitment to child-centered practice and a commitment to improving the lives of children and families.
