Gateshead Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Long Term Child Protection Team. We are committed to safeguarding children and providing high-quality support to families facing complex challenges.

About the Role:

You will be part of a team dedicated to:

• Providing intensive support and interventions to children who are subject to Child Protection Plans, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Working collaboratively with families, children, and other agencies to deliver effective and timely interventions.
• Engaging with families, building trust and rapport to support positive change.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
• Advocating for the needs of children and families, ensuring their voices are heard.
• Participating in regular supervision and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough assessments of children and families, identifying their needs and risks.
• Develop and implement individualised care plans for children subject to Child Protection Plans, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Work closely with families, children, and other agencies to deliver timely and appropriate interventions.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Participate in multi-agency meetings and collaborative working groups.
• Provide information, advice, and support to other professionals on safeguarding issues.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the team and service delivery.

Key Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
• Social Care England registration.
• Updated DBS check.
• Experience working with children and families in a child protection setting.
• Experience working with children subject to Child Protection Plans.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing demands.
• Commitment to child-centered practice and a commitment to improving the lives of children and families.
