Skilled Careers are pleased to announce we have been selected to search for an M&E Technical Coordinator on behalf of a family run residential developer based in London.



Due to an internal restructure my client has an exciting opportunity within the Building Services Team.



The Company:



They are a family run residential developer which been strategically growing year on with an impressive turnover of £400M and deliver around 1000 units per year.  They currently have ten live projects across London ranging from small bespoke 60-unit developments to larger more complex high rise RC frame schemes consisting of 550+ units.



The Opportunity:



You will be working alongside and reporting into an experienced Head of Building Services which has been with the company for over 5 years acting as their number two, once you have settled into the company there is real opportunity to be promoted too an M&E Manager. You will be managing your own diary and workload where you will be responsible for managing at least three projects.



Role & responsibility:



General duties




  • Provide regular update reports on progress and status of the various activities and works being undertaken.

  • Attend internal and team DTM / workshop meetings and provide input where required for services on various projects.

  • A good understanding on M&E design guides, British standards, CIBSE guides. Confidently discuss and recommend various systems to wider business / external consultants.



Pre-construction duties




  • Support the upfront team: engineering managers reviewing potential land document packs and/or schemes with consented planning to ensure correct budgets can be set.

  • During technical report process, provide technical and robust analysis on M&E systems through the life of the project i.e. buying land (Robin), pre planning and post planning reports.

  • Keep team abreast on updates and changes regulations and legislation that impact M&E / fire systems. Ensuring these changes are always communicated and captured in reporting & costs.



ConDoc duties




  • Compile M&E tender documents for consultants to price against for Condoc design stage (detailed design).

  • Compile specialist performance specification to enable production of specialist design to be undertaken.

  • Review tender and recommend M&E consultant to undertake detailed design.

  • Support technical manager throughout Condoc process. Including attending workshops, input into specialist design elements, ensure coordination between M&E design team and others.

  • Review ConDoc specifications, drawings, schematic and provide comment, ensuring value engineering is at the core of design process.

  • Liaise closely with M&E consultants through Condoc process providing advice and guidance on practical aspects of mechanical and electrical installations.

  • Engage with manufactures on all M&E systems to understand system nuances, new technologies and ensure every design is consistent, cost effective and benefits companies’ project.



Site duties (works / commercial)




  • Comment on contractor tender submissions. Attend M&E / specialist contractor preselection meetings.

  • Liaise closely with the commercial and works team through the life of project pre and post tender.

  • Monitor / request (not supervise) sub-contractor’s electrical and mechanical installation progress of works.

    Investigate and resolve technical issues put forward by the site teams on the various contracts.

  • Respond to RFI where applicable. Ensure consultant team respond to RFIs in a timely manner.

  • Attend benchmarking meetings on various M&E installation and provide comments / snag list to site manage for formal reporting.



The Person:




  • Must have 5+ years’ experience in residential building services design. This can include consultancy, contractor, and/or developer experience (developer preferable).

  • Able to work under pressure, with multiple projects.

  • Must have minimum HNC/HND qualification in Building services discipline and good all round knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems.

  • Able to use or have knowledge of software packages such as Autodesk products: AutoCAD / Revit. Microsoft packages.

  • Strong communication skills, confident in report writing and actively engaging in meetings.



The role offers flexible working from home one day at week with site visits which are based in around London as and when required.



The hours of work are from 9am - 5.30pm.



Please note:  I have met the client face2face and I have recently placed someone within the Building Services team.



My client is happy to consider candidates which are also from a consultancy background which have an interest in moving into a more client-side role or Engineers from a main contractor which are more mechanical bias.



The salary package on offer:



Up to £60,000 basic, plus £4,500 car, or travel allowance, 5% pension, healthcare, guaranteed 10% bonus which could increase to 15% depending on performance.
