Machine Operative

We’re hiring for a Machine Operative to join a leading distributor at their dynamic site in Newton Heath, Manchester.

In this role, you’ll be part of a dedicated team responsible for operating machinery to ensure the accurate cutting and preparation of steel materials for various industries.

What’s on offer?

• £12.25 per hour


• Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:15pm


• Early finish on Fridays


• Paid breaks


• 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)


• Annual bonus points system worth up to £125

What will you be doing as a Machine Operator?

• Setting up and operating multiple band saws


• Conducting continuous checks to ensure accuracy in cutting lengths and squareness


• Operating overhead cranes and forklift trucks to handle large steel rods safely


• Measuring materials using micrometres and other length measuring equipment


• Ensuring all quality standards and health & safety procedures are followed


• Packing steel products into bins for dispatch

What do you need?

• Experience working in a workshop environment


• Hands-on experience operating machinery
