Maintenance Support Operative - Newtownards Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited (The Group) is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. Applications are invited for the position of Maintenance Support Operative that will be based at our Newtownards site. The Role Reporting to our Maintenance FLM, the successful applicant will ensure on-time completion of planned maintenance tasks and equipment overhauls while adhering to standard operating procedures including those relating to health & safety, compliance and food hygiene/safety. This hands-on position will focus on mechanical tasks and routine maintenance checks on site while embracing continuous improvement, operational excellence and health and safety principles at all times. Additional key responsibilities (Not limited to): Completion of mechanical tasks during breakdowns and planned maintenance work e.g. replacement of chains, bearings and sprockets, basic fabrication, welding, pipe fitting work, machine changeovers. Completion of equipment routine checks, lubrication, chemical dosing, testing and associated documentation. Maintain a high level of housekeeping of specific areas to ensure audit compliance at all times. Surveying & maintenance of conveyor systems across site in line with PM schedules. Provide support to other engineering team members as and when required. Work along with and provide assistance to contractors to complete various repairs and maintenance tasks across the site. *** Please note: This is a day shift role, following a 2-week rotating shift pattern*** The Person Our team are seeking an ambitious, career hungry maintenance professional that has recognised time served in a level 2/3 Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent), an NVQ Level 2/3 in Maintenance (or equivalent) and proven post apprenticeship mechanical maintenance experience. Possessing a thirst to learn and develop the successful applicant will have excellent Mechanical Maintenance and equipment skills and be well experienced in work place compliance in-line with company Health & Safety standards and regulations. Experience within food manufacturing, dairy product, site services and/or pneumatic or electrical maintenance experience would be advantageous.
