Job DescriptionManaging Quantity SurveyorGalldris GroupLocation: Birmingham, West MidlandsAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background on large civils infrastructure projects, ideally with Main Contractors/Employers. The ideal candidate will have to hold a full UK driving licence, as travel between sites is necessary.The Managing Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for providing Commercial Management services on large, complicated, and carefully selected projects, as well as providing commercial leadership to other members of the Galldris surveying team.The Managing Quantity Surveyor will manage all costs relating on a large civil engineering projects or on a number of smaller ones, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They will have significant experience in minimising the costs of a project and enhancing value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. The Managing Quantity Surveyor will have a track record of managing a commercial team and be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB.Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to:Commercially manage selected projects, protecting the business contractually whilst seeking opportunities to maximise profit and reduce costProvide Dynamic Leadership to the Galldris Surveying Team ensuring project commercial objectives are clearly set out and understoodDevelop and maintain an excellent Client working relationship ensuring the contractual requirements are understood and managed professionally and efficientlyLead by example and engender a safe working environment in all mattersProduce concise, accurate, and timely commercial reports to the Galldris Board advising the key issues on the Project(s)Produce concise accurate and timely reports to the Client advising the key commercial and contractual issues on the Project(s)Adopt a Proactive approach in all mattersEnsure Company Procedures are understood and complied withSupport the company in business development opportunitiesManage the efficient closure of all matters including but not limited to - final accounts, completion / sectional completion certificates, retention recovery, and commercial disputesWorks with other department heads to determine company goals and KPIsNegotiate new projects and contract terms with new clientsUndertake other duties commensurate with the level of this positionComply with Company policies & proceduresExperience/Knowledge:Previous experience in business development or marketing fieldsA proven history of successful leadershipPossess a collaborative mindset and work well as part of a teamSuperior time management abilities and capable of meeting deadlinesUp to date on industry trends, as well as laws and regulationsAbility to build strong relationships with clients and industry contactsQualifications:Degree in Quantity Surveying or similarBSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalentMembership of RICS, ICES or CIOBWorking towards professional qualification status (MCIOB/MRICS) (desirable)CSCS CardHolds a current driving licenceSkills:Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsMust be a strategic thinker and have strong negotiation skillsExcellent organisational skills to balance and prioritise their workload and meet deadlinesInterested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK.Should you feel you have what it takes to be successful in this role then we would love to hear from you.Employee referral scheme - refer a friend or family member to work for Galldris.
