Job DescriptionJob Title: Managing Quantity SurveyorRole Purpose:As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing risk and opportunity management, fostering a culture of proactive risk management within the delivery and management teams. You will maximize the use of appropriate tools and techniques to position the company as a leader in opportunity and risk management. In this role, you will take the initiative in leading tasks and processes, ensuring accountability and responsibility for the work and roles of others, while exercising broad autonomy and judgment within your area of responsibility. You will report to a Project Manager or Commercial Manager and be responsible for the commercial aspects of a specific project section.Key Accountabilities:Business Leadership: Provide commercial leadership across the project, ensuring that best practices are followed in all commercial activities.Procurement: Manage procurement processes to secure the best terms and value for the project.Applications for Payment and Invoicing: Oversee the preparation and submission of payment applications and invoicing to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs to keep within budgetary limits.Accounting and Reporting: Ensure accurate accounting and regular financial reporting to stakeholders.Risk and Opportunity Management: Lead the identification, assessment, and management of risks and opportunities to maximize project success.Change Control: Oversee change management processes, ensuring all changes are properly documented and managed.Programming and Project Controls: Work with project controls teams to ensure accurate programming and adherence to project timelines.Sub-contract Administration: Manage sub-contract administration, ensuring all sub-contracts are executed and managed in line with project requirements.Project Completion: Ensure commercial activities are properly wrapped up and documented at the completion of the project.Engagement and Collaboration: Work with the broader contractor team to identify and exploit opportunities related to potential changes from the employer.Compensation Events: Demonstrate expertise in Core Clause 6 (Compensation Events) of the NEC contract, managing the associated processes and procedures.Communication and Negotiation: Utilise strong communication and negotiation skills to achieve the best outcomes for the project, collaborating with all parties to reach amicable resolutions when necessary.Experience/Criteria Required:Qualifications:BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experienceMembership of RICS, ICES, or CIOBExperience and Skills:Familiarity with NEC Forms of Contract/SubcontractStrong leadership and commercial management capabilitiesProficiency in risk and opportunity managementExcellent communication and negotiation skillsExperience with change control processes and managing compensation events
