Major Recruitment are seeking an experienced Manual Turner for our client based in Nottingham. The ideal candidate will be skilled in operating manual lathes and will have extensive experience working with a variety of materials, including cast iron, mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and ABRO400.



Hours + Salary:




  • �30,000-�33,000 per annum (DOE)

  • Permanent, Full-Time

  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (Early finish on Fridays)



Key Responsibilities:




  • Operate manual lathes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Choose appropriate materials (cast iron, mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, ABRO400) based on the job requirements.

  • Accurately measure and set up tools and workpieces to ensure correct alignment and proper tolerances.

  • Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, and grooving operations as required by each project.

  • Sharpen and replace cutting tools as necessary, ensuring they are in optimal condition for the job.

  • Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.

  • Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the turning process, making adjustments to settings as needed.

  • Conduct routine maintenance on the manual lathe, including lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs

  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including material usage, machine settings, and production times.

  • Work closely with engineers and other team members to optimize production processes and meet project deadlines.



Requirements:




  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Manual Turner in a similar role.

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in machining or engineering.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

  • Strong understanding of various materials and their machining properties.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.



Working Hours:




  • Monday to�Friday

  • Friday early finish

  • Optional overtime available but not essential
