Role : Full Time

Durham County Council's Social Care Services is seeking a compassionate and experienced Social Worker to join our dedicated Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team. We are committed to providing high-quality support and protection to individuals in need, ensuring their safety and well-being are paramount.

Your Role:

As a Non Case-Holding Social Worker within the MASH Team, you will be a crucial part of a collaborative and multi-agency approach to safeguarding individuals.

Your Responsibilities will include:


  • Assessing Referrals: Thoroughly assess referrals and concerns about individuals at risk of harm, conducting initial risk assessments and gathering relevant information.
  • Information Gathering: Contacting individuals, families, and other professionals to obtain necessary details and documentation, building a comprehensive picture of the situation.
  • Analyzing Information: Analyze gathered information, assess the risk of harm to the individual, and contribute to the development of a coordinated multi-agency response.
  • Case Allocation: Working with the MASH team to allocate cases appropriately to relevant agencies and social work teams.
  • Information Sharing: Collaborate effectively with other professionals and agencies involved in the individual's care, including police, health services, housing providers, and community support organizations, ensuring appropriate information sharing.
  • Promoting Effective Practice: Contribute to improving MASH processes, highlighting areas for improvement, and advocating for best practice in safeguarding.

Key Requirements:


  • Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
  • Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
  • Updated DBS: Essential for working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience in Social Work: Demonstrated experience working with individuals experiencing difficulties, with a strong understanding of safeguarding principles and practices.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to gather information, analyze risk, and contribute to collaborative decision-making.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding Individuals: Passion for protecting individuals and ensuring their rights and well-being are prioritized.
