In This Materials Manager Job, You Duties Will Include

  • Oversee Purchasing and Warehouse operations, ensuring adherence to procedures and policies.
  • Act as the key procurement contact, ensuring the supply chain meets current and future business needs.
  • Foster close working relationships with Scheduling, supervisors, and production staff.
  • Ensure timely purchase and supply of components, driven by production demand and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Cultivate successful supplier relationships and negotiate prices.
  • Collaborate with various business areas to improve procurement practices and reduce lead times.
  • Lead initiatives for inventory reduction and Lean deployment.
  • Recruit, develop, and organize staff and equipment for optimal performance.
  • Monitor department and staff performance, ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Identify and address product failures promptly, supporting continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Uphold company standards and manage staff in line with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications Required For This Materials Manager Job

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability.
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems and computer literacy.
  • Relevant education or experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain or Procurement. A CIPS qualification is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and development.
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
