SEN Maths Teacher (with QTS) urgently required near Lewes.
This Special school, spread over two sites, near Lewes, East Sussex, is an independent specialist institution dedicated to providing therapeutic and child-focused education to students aged 10 to 19 years. Their students come from diverse backgrounds and all have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many also have additional Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication challenges.
Their work is diverse and demanding, and as an organisation informed by trauma and attachment principles, they ensure that all staff receive comprehensive therapeutic training and support.
Their approach, which places the child at the heart of decision-making, involves collaboration among education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams, and most importantly, their students, to achieve exceptional outcomes for all.
The Role
The Head Teacher believes in being teachers of children first, before subjects. This role centres on understanding the child, fostering nurturing and positive relationships, and motivating students.
They are seeking a Mathematics specialist. Their Maths curriculum includes Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3, and GCSE. You'll have the support of national subject champions to help non-specialists excel in facilitating learning tailored to each child's needs.
Teachers at this School inspire children, instilling a sense of awe and making lessons engaging and relevant. They design dynamic learning opportunities that challenge and motivate students, whether they are grasping the basics or excelling in their interests.
Their students need exceptional teachers who can handle complex and challenging behaviours. They need attention, effective communication, consistency, flexibility, and a non-judgmental approach.
They encourage their teachers to contribute to school decision-making, drive student outcomes, and advocate for every child. Your input in developing the academic and extracurricular programs, and bringing your passions and interests, is highly valued.
Please Note: Due to the school's location, a valid driver's license is required for this role.
