Mechanical Design Engineer

Due to continued growth, we are recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for an automated equipment manufacturer in Cheshire.You’ll work in a fast-paced environment, facing fresh challenges every day, intricate design, and an opportunity to realise your ideas and immediately see the results. The company offers the perfect place to hone your skills as an innovative engineer and grow to your full potential.Key duties:• R&D of bespoke solutions, prototyping, costing, and design proposals• CAD design and 2D drawings including GD&T and DFMA• Assembly and testing of intricate mechanisms• Use of in-house 3D printers for prototyping/part manufacturing.• Liaising with external manufacturers including laser/waterjetters, CNC machinists, anodisers, fabricators.• Quality assurance and checking received components against specifications• Engineering administration including risk assessments, purchasing, BOM, making operation manuals, timesheets• Holding design reviews, and checking engineering drawings conform to specifications and industry standardsEssential Requirements:• HND or Degree qualified in a relevant field (mechanical, electro-mechanical)• Mechanical design experience using a 3D CAD package such as Inventor, PTC Creo or SolidWorks• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.• Ability to self-manage time, and work to tight deadlines.• Ability to work methodically and meticulously with a “right first time” attitudeDesirable Requirements, depending on experience:• Design experience in mechanical machinery, mechanical assembly, gear mechanisms, multi-part assembly design and good materials knowledge.• Ability to create 2D drawings of complex parts/assemblies• Experience with assembling components within a workshop environment.• Experience managing projects from cradle to grave.• Experience with subsea electro-mechanical components• CEng or IEng accreditation, or working towards.• Experience with PDM or PLM software such as Autodesk Vault, or SolidWorks PDM.Benefits:• 5% Employer pension contribution• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays• Additional discretionary leave over the Christmas period• Profit Share Bonus• Paid overtime at increased rates for evenings and weekends, dependent on salary• Discretionary bonus awards• Flexible working around core hours• Discretionary Hybrid working• Continuous training and development encouraged• Team events (social & company)So, if you have what it takes, we'd love to hear from you.
