They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth on a permanent basis.The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similarAt least 1 year of experience in a similar Design Engineering positionStrong knowledge of plastic injection moulding Have a keen interest in the Motorsport and Automotive industry Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as Catia, SolidWorks, Inventor etc.Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerancesExcellent communication skills both verbal and writtenProficient using MS OfficeExcellent organisational skills and time management skillsHave the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary teamThe Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:Using Catia and SolidWorks CAD for concept design and producing technical drawingsLiaising with manufacturing providersBeing involved in final assembly of productsCreating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plansUpdating 3D models and drawingsInputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMsChecking drawings for sign offWorking in a multi-disciplinary team on varied projectsIf you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible.
