Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Salary: �38-43K plus bonuses
Location: Devizes, Wiltshire
Hours: Full time, onsite
My client is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their manufacturing company based in Wiltshire. The company manufacture precision parts, primarily serving the automotive, aerospace and power generation industries supplying a worldwide customer base.

Within the role of Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be engaged in the entire lifecycle of projects, from initial concept through design, validation, trials, the release into production and ensuring sustainability. The successful candidate will need to have a strong technical understanding and the tenacity to drive technical solutions to completion.

The main duties/responsibilities within the role of Mechanical Design Engineer will be:

  • Work collectively and collaboratively with Lead Engineers and other Engineers on engineering system developments and best practice
  • Assist with the preparation of project scope and agree the appropriate technical design specifications in order to achieve the scope within agreed timescale and to budget
  • Meet delivery, performance and improvement targets for each project
  • Develop and use new materials and technologies.
  • Develop test and design theoretical designs.
  • Use research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly those in mathematical modelling and computer-aided design.
  • Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments and sub-contractors.
  • Ensure that the equipment designed can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments.
  • Manage the design and build using engineering principles and techniques.
  • Recommend modifications following prototype test results.
  • Work with Quality team, production and support functions on test requirements for new equipment (e.g. pre-production runs, MSA's etc)
  • Take responsibility and ownership for the CE process and documentation for the project being undertaken
  • Monitor and commission plant and systems.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in BEng Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • A high level of technical and scientific knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems
  • Excellent understanding of Mechanical Sciences
  • Effective knowledge and use of Solidworks CAD system and associated tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of UKCA/CE marking and its processes
  • Competent in all Microsoft packages
  • Expertise in machine building technical design, implementation and commissioning (machine building life cycle)

The working hours will be a 37 hour working week Monday to Friday.
