Mechanical Design Engineer

We are recruiting for an Mechanical Design Engineer for a well established Electronics Manufacturer in Poole, Dorset.

The company is family owned and has a proud history of 50 years in the acoustic ancillary, connector, cable and microphone fields.

They have contracts with various major manufacturers in France, Germany and Spain for microphone development specifically for Masks and Military Headsets representing the cream of the Acoustics Industry.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Design Engineer in Poole. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for mechanical engineering, design of small enclosures for audio products, improve existing products, and liaise with customers and suppliers.

Required Skills:

• SolidWorks 3D CAD
• Design of small electro/mechanical assemblies enclosing PCBs within plastic enclosures (Audio products, Test equipment, communication equipment.)
• Knowledge of material specifications for plastics
  

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of military cable / connector construction / specs i.e. D38999, 62GB, M55116 etc
• Knowledge of ATEX
• Knowledge of product design standards including EMC and safety, CE, UKCA compliance
• MIL specs, DEF Stans, CE approvals
• Experience of designing for industrial & military environments
• Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 QMS standard
  

Salary: £34,000 to £43,000 per annum DOE + Profit related Bonuses 

Hours: 37.5 per week - Monday to Friday
