Job Description:
My client is�seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical (HVAC)�Estimator to join their team. As the successful�Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for HVAC projects, working�closely with our project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure that all estimates are comprehensive and competitive. Projects currently predominantly cover the�hospital, university & school sectors, ranging in value up to circa �5m.�
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans and specifications to understand project scope and requirements
- Occasional site visits to gather information�and assist with negotiating�
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop cost-effective solutions
- Identify potential risks and opportunities and make recommendations to mitigate risks and maximize profits
- Review and analyze subcontractor bids and negotiate pricing
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and cost comparisons
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all estimates and bids
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and post-bid negotiations with clients
- Provide support to project managers during the construction phase, as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mechanical HVAC�Estimator in the UK�construction industry
- Strong knowledge of mechanical HVAC�systems and construction methods
- Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites, as needed
