As a Quality Technician, you will be responsible for testing materials, components, and finished products to verify their compliance with relevant standards and procedures. You will provide support to the inspection team and quality engineers by performing inspections and tests at various stages of manufacturing: pre-production, in-process, and final.



Additionally, your role will involve calibrating measuring equipment, assisting with the First Article Inspection process, conducting internal audits, and applying practical problem-solving techniques to enhance processes and procedures.



Main Duties & Responsibilities:




  1. Conduct first-off and/or in-process inspections, including generating dimensional reports for new or modified components.

  2. Ensure accurate completion and proper filing of dimensional reports and First Article Inspection (FAI) packages.

  3. Operate CMM equipment using established programs or techniques for component inspections, and create programs when needed (ideally using Aberlink software).

  4. Manage stock throughout the inspection process, including rejecting non-conforming items.

  5. Oversee the calibration system and ensure equipment is continuously calibrated according to schedule.

  6. Address quality issues by applying structured problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques.

  7. Perform internal product and system audits, fulfilling the role of an internal auditor as necessary.

  8. Assist the supplier quality engineer or inspection team during busy periods or in their absence.



Qualifications:




  • NVQ/HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.

  • Internal auditor qualification for ISO 9001 or AS9100.



Experience:




  • Required: 3+ years of experience in quality inspection, metrology, and CMM operation.

  • Required: Hands-on experience with various mechanical inspection tools, such as micrometers, calipers, and CMM.

  • Required: Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and using appropriate tools to verify part accuracy.

  • Required: Strong work ethic, effective time management, and organizational skills.

  • Required: Experience working with cross-functional teams.

  • Preferred: Experience in high-value, low-volume manufacturing environments.



Skills & Abilities:




  • Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Required: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

  • Required: Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Required: Ability to prioritize tasks and remain flexible when dealing with unexpected events.



Knowledge:




  • Required: Ability to self-inspect parts using manual measuring equipment, such as micrometers, verniers, calipers, and gauges.

  • Required: Capability to read and interpret technical drawings.

  • Required: Familiarity with completing FAIRs.

  • Required: Knowledge of ISO standards, such as ISO 9001 and/or AS9100.
