Job Title: Lead Hand (Locomotives)
Location: Leicestershire
Salary: �43,000 per annum
Shifts: Rotating - Mornings, Afternoons
About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Biased Leading Hand/Supervisor to join our team, ensuring the efficient maintenance and preparation of locomotives. This role requires a hands-on approach, with 80% of your time spent on the shop floor conducting fitness to run checks, brake testing, and fuel point preparation, while 20% will be focused on supervision and delivering key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform fitness to run, brake testing, and fuel point preparation on locomotives.
* Lead and supervise a team, ensuring high standards of work and safety compliance.
* Oversee and deliver the 5 main KPIs to drive performance and efficiency.
* Support and mentor team members, ensuring best practices and high-quality output.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure all work is completed to industry standards.
What We're Looking For:
* Strong mechanical background, ideally within the rail industry.
* Experience in locomotive maintenance, including brake systems and fuel preparation.
* Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
* Willingness to work a rotating 3-shift system (mornings, afternoons, nights).
* Commitment to health and safety protocols and industry regulations.
